Sabir's Michael

We've named most of our females for flowers and our males for trees. The name of each flower or tree has a meaning, which we pass along to you here. An Archangel, Protector in Battle

WITH HEAVY HEARTS, WE'VE HAD TO SAY GOOD-BYE TO OUR WONDERFUL MICHAEL
ON APRIL 7, 2010 HE WENT TO WAIT FOR US AT THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Dear Sweet Boy,

You will always be a part of us. We will see your sweet, smiling face and hear your voice forever. Your spirit will attend every new birth and protect us each dark night. May you run in deep green pastures and watch over the ones that went before. Until we meet again at The Bridge...

Michael was simply a magnificent animal. His dam, Semavi Sabir, was from one of the foremost kennels on the West Coast. His father, Gerlach Beau, was reknown throughout the country and sired several champions.

Michael was one of a litter of 7 and the mellowest of the sibs. He grew up quickly, and matured at 145 to 150#. He was square and correct. Born on a llama farm, he was a natural guardian from the very beginning. He was never fearful and never aggressive.

Michael may have thought that he was at least part alpaca, as brushing away all of our discouragements, he ate hay from the mangers right along with his alpacas.

Michael lived in the barn and pastures full time. We never saw a predator. Our adjacent neighbor, who came daily to give Michael a treat, told us that he never again saw a stray dog on his property once Michael came to the neighborhood. His huge basso profundo voice could be heard through the night as he let the world know that he was on duty. Yet he unobtrusively attended all of our births and was trusted by first time moms and experienced veterans alike. Michael was attached to his charges. When an animal, visitor or resident, left the farm, Michael howled his grief and was the first to welcome them home.

We now echo that grief, but we know he's waiting at The Bridge to welcome us home.
