HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!!!

LF del A Queen Ann's Lace, the first cria ever born to on our farm, turned 19 today!!

It seems like only yesterday and reminds me of how fast time goes by.

Lace has been a rock solid girl for us, never had an ill day. Easy birther and great mom to 5 beautiful babies.

Although she retired from the breeding pen years ago, she has continued to lend stability and continuity to the herd.

She has been a calming traveling companion and a no nonsense Auntie.

We love you Miss Lacey, may there be many happy returns of the day!

Parrots For 'Pacas

Pete the Parrot

Pete the Parrot

Last evening two legged Altiplano staffers attended the Northwest Camelid Foundation's Annual Banquet and Stud Service Auction held in Wilsonville, OR.

This organization has been doing their good works for 25 years, in partnership with Oregon State University, Washington State University Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, dedicated area veterinarians, llama and alpaca folks.

These efforts have raised $540,000 for Camelid research!!!

Not only is it a great cause, but a great time!

After a super meal, alpaca and llama studs strutted their stuff, wending their way among the dinner tables to strains of "I'm too Sexy for my Clothes," "Rocky" and other victory anthems, lucky breeders bidding on their services. These guys are so well behaved that the Holiday Inn has allowed them this privilege without hesitation. And what a hoot it all is!!!

There is also a gazillion other fun stuff to bid on from the silent auction, raffle and table decorations, ranging from halters to award winning wines. All proceeds to Camelid research.

Below, meet "Pete the Parrot"... table centerpiece and latest addition to Altiplano's metal animal menagerie... hey, no poop scooping needed!
